A few years ago, I left Washington, D.C. and moved to the mountains of New England, ultimately ending up in the North Country of New Hampshire. I am a high school English teacher, a hiker in the White and Green Mountains, a skier, snowboarder, kayaker, and a glider pilot. I spent my twenties training to make the U.S. Olympic Team in whitewater kayak slalom racing. I wrote a guidebook to the best whitewater in New England, and a novel based on my experiences at a corrupt charter school in Washington, D.C. I’m passionate about education and about the outdoors, especially about the opportunities available for people here in the White Mountains.
